Tried using penetrate and a O2 socket first didn’t work, went for the blue wrench, we’re out of oxygen, so the next best thing is a air hammer right?! FML

We tried 2 ratchet straps neither one would push the beads enough. We even tried the “cheetah” and did nothing. This stuff was from our commercial department. They use this to assist mounting semi tires... Its called Murphys Soap.

One of the reddit commenters suspected a lack of lubrication during assembly, which the OP later confirmed. Check and double-check!

The ‘85 Ranger my dad used to have would nearly bottom out like that just filling the bed with neighbors’ grass clippings.

Either the Ranger has come a long way, or grass clippings are way heavier than I realized.

“Da fuck is William Wallace doing there?” I laughed so hard. But seriously, I want to know more about that guy. And what the hell the truck was doing, and how that happened.

But the service manager made me laugh, “We can fix the truck, we can’t fix the building.” Uh, yeah you can.

I’m new to “runaway diesel” scenarios like this, but from what I gathered from the comments, the engine was overfilled with oil (by a LOT). That extra oil was getting into the cylinders, and it was running off of that. Didn’t matter that the injectors were off, because it had an alternative source of fuel. Fascinating... and scary. And expensive.

I read the same comments. It’s a good thing I always underfill my TDI, let it warm up, and then top it off.

And from the comments, it sounds like that was a $30-$35k mistake. But I don’t get why they’re fixing it and not just totaling it. If that were my truck I’d make them buy me a new truck and they can keep that one.
